Serious Illness Cover

Serious illness cover covers the assured against most of the serious illnesses for a specified period. Illnesses include heart attack, stroke, cancer and a list of others. Separate and stand-alone cover can be obtained.

Statistics prove that:

  • Before the age of 65 you are four times more likely to suffer from a serious illness than you are to die.
  • 50℅ of serious illness claims are for people aged less than 50 years.

The consequences can be devastating. If you develop an illness, it can be very expensive. If you need surgery the typical cost of coronary artery surgery in a private hospital is €17,000.

Specified Illness Cover provides you with a cash payment should you suffer from any one of the 26 common illnesses and conditions included under the cover provided. The payment could help to pay for medical bills, special alterations to your home or replace your income if you need to stop working.

When deciding on the amount of cover you need, you should consider your mortgage repayments, other loans, and bills and how long your likely to be out of work, until your back on your feet.

Specified Illness Cover is available separately or it can be combined with Life Cover.

Serious illness cover can prevent a health crisis also becoming a financial crisis.
